The mission of the DHHS Instrumental Music Foundation is to provide support and resources to the Dana Hills High School Instrumental Music program in the form of operating funds, volunteer services and organizational coordination in order to provide students with the best possible music education experience.
The music classes offered by the Dana Hills High School Instrumental Music program are, concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz band, musical theater, guitar class, drum line, marching band and color guard. The goal of the Foundation is to provide financial and volunteer support to all classes, curriculum and activities to benefit all students involved in the music program. The Foundation objectives are realized through fund-raising and volunteer enlistment.
Through fund-raising, the music boosters/Foundation has been able to help the music program grow and become stronger by providing student scholarships, instructional music coaches, purchasing of new instruments and uniforms, field trip transportation, new music, instruments, and enrichment opportunities. The Foundation supplements instruction by paying for coaches and clinicians who work directly with smaller, individual groups of band and orchestra students throughout the school year during class time. The Foundation pays for instrument repairs and purchases sheet music and other necessary equipment for all classes. In addition to purchasing new marching band uniforms, the care and dry cleaning of uniforms and formal wear is entirely paid for by the Foundation. Maintenance, repair and purchase of storage cabinets for instruments are also accomplished by the Foundation as is the construction and maintenance of all field show props.
